HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER is a Tier 1 full service IP firm with a litigation practice in patents, trade marks and copyright; a patent and trademark prosecution practice and a pharmaceutical regulatory practice. The firm has over 90 IP practitioners spread across offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Mannheim, Munich and Paris.

The Firm’s patent prosecution practice is located in Amsterdam and covers representation before the European patent office and various European national patent offices, but also includes patent prosecution before the US patent office. We represent clients ranging from big multinationals to mid- and small size firms. We have a strong client focus and take responsibility in handling our clients IP interests.   

We are looking for a Patent Formalities Officer to join our Amsterdam patent prosecution team.  Experience in working in patent administration matters is required. A qualification from the Dutch Patent Formalities Platform or CIPA is preferred.


The role of the Patent Formalities Officer involves all administrative aspects of the patent prosecution procedures including mail docketing, working with the European and national patent offices, handling PCT procedures, managing client correspondence, coordination with foreign patent agents, assignments, transfers, arranging annuity payments and, preferably, also patent administration before the US patent office. 

The work is primarily carried out in English and candidates should possess good spoken and written command of the English language and preferably also good Dutch language skills. Candidates will work in a team of Patent Formalities Officers and secretaries in close cooperation with the patent attorneys. Team work, flexibility, time management, communication skills, reliability, responsibility and accuracy are key competencies required for the job.
