  • The Brussels Commercial Court has ruled in favour of Philips in a cross-border design infringement suit against Fritel, the Belgian manufacturer of a copy of Philips’ Airfryer®.
  • Benoît Strowel, a member of Hoyng Monegier’s and HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER’s executive committee since 2011, will succeed Willem Hoyng as managing partner. The other members of the executive committee are Bart van den Broek, Christine Kanz, Carl De Meyer and Luis Fernández-Novoa.
  • The city of Barcelona will host again from 26 February to 1 March 2018 the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the biggest gathering worldwide of the mobile communications industry. This year, as has been the case since 2015, the Barcelona Patent Courts, being aware of the greater litigiousness that an event of this nature can bring out, once again adopted the so-called “fast-action” protocol to deal with the urgent interim relief applications filed during and on the occasion of the MWC for the infringement of the participating companies’ IP rights.
  • On 27 December 2017, the District Court of The Hague rendered a judgment in which it granted an injunction against the company Oğuhzhan Plastic Kalip Sanayi (also acting under the name Vialli), prohibiting Vialli to infringe a European patent of SCA Tissue France in the Netherlands for a toilet paper dispenser housing a roll of toilet paper with specific dimensions.
  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER recently promoted three senior associates to counsel - Laura Cantero (Madrid), Robin van Kleeff (Amsterdam) and Thomas Misgaiski (Düsseldorf). The promotion will be effective as of 1 January 2018.
  • According to the current ranking of Legal 500 Germany, HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER continues to be ranked in ‘tier 1 of German patent litigation firms' in the field of Intellectual Property: Patent Litigation.   • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER’s Spanish team secured another success for French clothing brand HARTFORD before the European Union Trademark (EUTM) Courts in Alicante in trademark infringement and invalidity proceedings filed against Spanish optics company DIVARO (Navarro Óptico).
  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER’s Spanish team successfully represented the fashion group G-STAR RAW in European Union trade mark (EUTM) infringement litigation against the Spanish fashion retail group MANGO, for unauthorized use made in the EU of its “RAW” trademark on clothing and accessories.

Anne Servoir started her career in the competition law department of CMS-Bureau Francis Lefebvre, where she developed a practice focused on regulatory issues in various industries ranging from telecommunications to pharmaceuticals. She later joined INTUITY, a boutique life sciences firm.
