Steven is gespecialiseerd in octrooien en bedrijfsgeheimen. Zijn praktijk omvat uiteenlopende sectoren en technologieën, maar is vooral gericht op de life sciences industrie waar hij een aantal innovatieve producenten vertegenwoordigt. Hij is gastdocent octrooirecht aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel en in het departement farmaceutische wetenschappen aan de Universiteit Gent.
