Benoît Strowel


Benoît is the Managing Partner of HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER.

Benoît has an MSc degree but is an all-round patent litigator, both in France and Belgium. He is a member of the Paris and Brussels bars and a qualified solicitor with the senior courts of England and Wales. After so many years of court presence in various jurisdictions, most of Benoît’s work is in highly complex and often cross-border matters.

Benoit is skilled in navigating the various jurisdictional systems in Europe and has extensive experience coordinating multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. He also has considerable expertise in the regulatory issues facing major bio-pharmaceutical companies.

Clients include Abbvie, Biogen, Syngenta, Pfizer, GSK, Lundbeck, UCB, AstraZeneca, DSM, Zeltiq Aesthetics (now Allergan), Ceva, Merial (now Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health), Mundipharma, Genethon and Sanofi but also Conversant Wireless, Heckler & Koch and Open TV.

    • Conversant Wireless v. LGE. Assisting Conversant Wireless Licensing in the first FRAND French case before the Paris Court of appeal.
    • Ceva Santé Animale v. Bayer. Representation of Ceva Animale in France and worldwide coordination of patents cases against Bayer re Forceris.
    • DSM v. Novozymes. Representing DSM with respect to the infringement of their patent on lactase technology for dairy products.
    • Heckler & Koch v FN Herstal. Infringement by FN Herstal of Heckler & Koch’s patent on parts of automatic rifles for the police and special forces.
    • Syngenta v. Life Scientific. Re. process patents re manufacturing of azoxystrobin.
    • AstraZeneca. In various litigations against Generics re. Faslodex, Crestor and Inexium.
    • Sanofi v. Eli Lilly. Re biosimilar of Lantus in France plus European coordination.
    • Zeltiq Aesthetics (Allergan). Coordination of patent litigations regarding Cryolipolysis devices across Europe.
    • Lundbeck v. Tiefenbacher and Ratiopharm. Defending Lundbeck in nullity proceedings against their escitalopram patent.
