  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER is set to open an office in Munich on 1 September 2016, in addition to the existing offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Mannheim (branch office) and Paris. The law firm will thus be represented at seven locations across Europe. As the seat of the German Federal Patent Court, the European Patent Office, and the future seat of the Central Division and the Local Division of the Unified Patent Court, Munich is an important location for matters pertaining to patent law in Germany and Europe. Upon opening, Klaus Haft, partner of HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER will work out of the office in the Bavarian capital for a part of his time. The new office will be located at Theatinerstraße 7 in 80333 Munich.
  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER won three Who´s Who Legal Awards during the awards ceremony that was held on 11 April at The University Club in New York. The firm scooped up the following awards: Patent firm of the year, Life Sciences Patent litigation firm and partner Benoît Strowel was honored as lawyer of the year in that same category. Every year Who’s Who Legal issues awards to the individuals and firms that have performed exceptionally well in its research.
  • On April 1, 2016, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued amended rules of practice for Trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes review (IPR), post-grant review (PGR), covered business method review (CBM), and derivation proceedings. The new rules take effect on May 2, 2016.
  • By judgment of 15 March 2016 (Case 4b O 44/14), Düsseldorf Regional Court found in favour of OpenTV Inc., San Francisco (USA), in its patent suit brought against Apple Inc., Cupertino (USA), and two subsidiaries, Apple Distribution International, Cork (Ireland), and Apple Retail Germany GmbH, Frankfurt/Main (Germany).
  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER acted successfully for its client the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA) which represents the majors in the movie, game and music industry, in a case brought before the Luxembourg court (Tribunal d’arrondissement) against EURODNS SA.
  • HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER won two awards, during last night’s Managing IP awards, which were held at the Savoy in London.
  • Fabienne Brison (Brussels office) has been appointed as Secretary General of ALAI (International Literary and Artistic Association) by its Executive Committee on 5 March.
