The 26th April, is a special day for us, at HOYNG ROKH MONEGIER – it’s World Intellectual Property (IP) Day!
This year, World IP Day highlights how IP rights can be critical for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
To mark this day, we have asked a couple of our clients to testify how IP has helped them build a stronger, more competitive and resilient business. Here’s what they had to say:
- Frank Hoffmann, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Oyess: “As a team of three co-founders with backgrounds in the cosmetics industry, we are so pleased to have been able to protect our newly created cosmetic brand Oyess, a key asset for our business. - Andreas Traut, Managing Director Gusto: “We have been working in the field of innovative consumer goods for over 25 years. As a smaller company we need to differentiate ourselves and are continuously developing new products. Due to a well thought out IP strategy, we have been able to stay one step ahead of the competition, extend the lifecycle of our products and increase our profitability. We have also been able to give our customers exclusivity rights, which have made our products and services more attractive and led to better market penetration and increased NPS. Last but not least, we have been able to license our IP rights. Even after we changed the principal direction of our company to be a consultancy for foreign companies trying to access the EU market, our IP experience remains an important element of our strategic approach and is highly valued by our customers. I can honestly say, without the right IP strategy, we would not have achieved the success we have.”
- Martin Frechen, Managing Director: “At STEINEL, we are the ‘inventors company’. With more than 300 patents, IP is the foundation of our business. Every year we invest 8.5% of our annual turnover into research & development (R&D). In our field, we are leaders in technology and innovation. Just recently we launched a system to analyze the risk of infection, using newly developed sensors. These assets need to be protected and defended. We have been very successful, even though the competition was fierce.”
